Overdue haircut

Here you are sitting ever so patiently getting your hair cut. You have always been quite content getting your hair cut since you were little. Now, you are old enough to ask the hair-dresser how you want your hair done. Although, you are quite shy and try to hint at me to ask for you. You have become quite particular in how you want your hair styled. It's not cool anymore to have spikey hair!

ANZAC Day

We went down to the North Leagues and Service Club for the ANZAC day march. Before the march started, I walked with you around the gardens looking at the memorabilia and plaques dedicated to those who have fought for our freedom. We came across East Timor and Singapore where Poppy served in his time with the army. You were impressed with the massive machine guns and urged me to take a photo of the type of machine gun.

Movie date with Mum!

We took a train ride into Brisbane City to go to the Imax cinema's at South Bank. Although, as we were in line to get our tickets they became 'SOLD OUT'. So, we took a trip into the heart of the city, to the Myer Centre cinema, and waited for two hours to get into the movie you were so keen to see. We spent this time having lunch and checking out all the city has to offer including alleged celebrity appearances. (Chris Brown)

Japanese Exchange Students

 Origami Ninja Rings

Origami Ring

Lachlan came home from school today telling me that there is Japanese exchange students at his school. He is rather disappointed that he forgot to give me the letter to see if one can stay at our place! :( Coincidentally, I was only just talking about the opportunity to be an 'exchange student' last week.

The exchange students joined their Japanese class today and they made some 'cool' origami. They made 'ninja stars,' 'origami rings' and 'Pikachu.' Lachlan pointed out that 'Pokemon' comes from Japan and these students were familiar with the words associated with Pokemon.

Grade 7 Camp

Identification badge and all

Lachlan with his school mates

Mr Frawley handing out the camp guidelines

Lachlan came home from his school camp very tired and sunburnt! Although, he had such an adventurous time and challenged himself with some of the activities. He told me one of the activities was to 'make a leap of faith' and jump off a small plank as high as our house, while attached to a safety harness. The cord stops you half way down until you slowly drop back down to the earth.

I think Lachlan going on school camps really helps to build his self-esteem and social skills. It's not everyday you get the chance to 'make a leap of faith.' Well done Lachlan!

Buster - our guinea pig

15

We got Buster for Lachlan just before christmas and he has grown so much! Lachlan often nursed him on his shoulder while watching TV. Although, with alot of things, he is losing interest. So, now Buster has a new friend to keep him entertained.

Sleeping so peacefully

14

I do shift work so this is the only opportunity I get to take a pic sometimes. He does look oh so content though! Such a grown baby boy!

Ahh... quiet time

The best way to a boy's heart! Through his stomach... ;)

Allix - our bird

12

Allix was hand-raised since he was 10 weeks old. He is now about 3 and a half years old! He is an 'Indian Ring-Necked Parrot' and the black ring he has didn't show until he was about 2 years old. He 'talks' alot and says 'Lachlan,' 'Nicholas,' 'What are you doing?' and makes the sound of our phone... But he doesn't say my name! I must be the one he copies when I yell out to the boys...

Sunday Chillaxing with Halo Reach on Xbox live (and the dorky glasses)

11

Lachlan is absolutely addicted to Halo Reach at the moment! He plays 'Xbox live' and talks to his friends from school and people from all over the world.

It is a rare occasion for us to all go out for dinner together. We had a great time chatting and being silly (Nik's rabbit ears). We should definitely do it more often!

Man in the making

My little man is helping out his Mummy again. He used such concentration and precise cutting while preparing these potatoes for me! Everything he does has to be done 'just right.' He is a bit of a perfectionist, really! Takes a bit longer but always good to see him give it a go!

Buster and his little friend

We had some sad news with Lachlan's guinea pig, Casper, dying after being sick for a few weeks. He was a friend that we bought for Buster. I had been cleaning Casper and trying to get rid of the infection I thought he had. During this time I had become close to him and cared for him dearly. Although, unfortunately he just went limp and then later died. Casper was such a brave little guinea pig, although he sure did like to squeal like a pig. Lachlan coped very well and was keen to find out when he was getting a replacement!

My little helper

My pre-teen unwillingly helped me by making dinner while I did the dishes. I will make a real man out of him one day!

Science experiment

L: Do you know how to make salt?
After explaining to me that the two elements of sodium and chlorine go together to make salt and it's hazards. He says astonished:
L: They put those really dangerous things together to make salt. Well, I'm not having salt anymore!

Tired from school sport

"I had such a hard day. Not 'work' hard but like I'm going to 'die' hard!"

Love in all languages

L: Do something that I would be thankful for
M: *kisses L on the lips*
L: Arigatou
M: What does that mean?
L: Thankyou in Japanese

Start of the School Year

Lachlan and his cousin are soaking wet after a sudden downpour of rain while going from the car to school.

Zac Power rocks!

Love that my son still enjoys reading at bedtime! I have read to him at night since he was a baby.

2

Love of technology!

My pre-teen loves playing on all forms of technology including the iPad 2 he got from Santa! ;)
